Personal Styling is the perfect fusion of my passions in life - design, fashion & helping people.
Hello!
I am Holly … a wife, working Mum and style expert
I have been working in the fashion industry since graduating in 2006, where I started my career as a Womenswear Designer in London. Having designed for brands such as French Connection and Marks & Spencer for many years, I returned to my Yorkshire roots, got married and took on our first renovation project.
Life is now busier than ever and with a little one in tow, focussing on what truly makes me happy feels more important than ever … and so here Holly Woodhouse Styling was born.
Why Styling?
Having settled back “up North” in York, I began my Personal Styling journey at the fantastic highstreet retailer John Lewis, where I was advanced colour trained by Jules Standish and completed my mens and women’s Stylist training at London College of Style.
It was within the John Lewis Partnership that I discovered my true passion in life - a fusion of both my background in womenswear design and my love of people - Personal Styling and I have never looked back.
I now have the pleasure of offering a whole range of bespoke services to men, women and children, tailored specifically to you and your needs.
More About Me
What’s your favourite Service?
That’s a tough one because no two clients are ever the same, but I would have to say building a really hard working capsule wardrobe. There is no better feeling than knowing that a client has bought fantastic, timeless things which I know they will still be wearing in loads of different combinations and be loving for many years to come.
There are lots of Stylists, why should I pick you?
I have a genuine passion and talent for my job and have never lost the excitement of seeing a clients confidence growing in front of my eyes. It is true magic. My client feedback is the best gauge of how good I am at my job and I love that they equally feel the passion in their experiences with me.
How did you get into Styling?
I have had many jobs over the years, from my days interning in the fashion industry in London when I had just graduated (The London Paper and Betty Jackson to name a couple!) to a Womenswear Designer at Marks & Spencer. I believe each role played its part in me getting to where I am now, but it was with the fantastic brand which is John Lewis where I was lucky enough to learn and experience exactly what my true passion was in life which is undoubtedly Personal Styling.
Best fashion advice you’ve ever been given?
If you buy something you love, you will always love it, don’t settle for it’ll do.
Tell us a quirky fact about your career?
I was sent the biggest bunch of flowers I’ve ever received from none other than Karren Brady! I used to work for a small high end designer in London called Osman Yousefzada and was asked to stay late as Karren was coming in to pick up a dress for an event. I had always admired her and she was so lovely and appreciative of me staying late for her, hence the flowers!
They say don’t meet your heroes, but she couldn’t have been any lovelier and I’ve watched in wonder all she has achieved since. You always remember those people in life who were kind to you (and those who weren’t!) and it taught me that it doesn’t matter who you are, who you are meeting and where you get to - be kind, be gracious and always remember how hard you’ve worked to get there.
